Do you mean "seized" as in jammed/stuck/frozen or "ceased" which is just
another word for stopped?
I have checked the fuses and they are ok.

I'm amazed that any car would overheat in this weather anyway. On the hottest
day this summer my XR2i managed quite happily in a 10 mile traffic jam on the
M25 with out a fan at all - I just needed to put the heater on every now and
then and blast it out of the windows. The fan got dumped earlier in the year
when the motor seized and I never got round to replacing it. If anything the
car seems happier without the thing. The shroud round it was blocking so much
of the airflow through the radiator that the two things were cancelling each
other out. The fan was only needed because of the shroud that held it. Weird
but true it seems. In this weather the last thing my car needs is a fan.
Anyway - if you're overheating while on the move in this weather then either
the radiator is blocked solid, the thermostat is jammed shut or the system is
not pressurising. The fans shouldn't enter into it.
If you're overheating in traffic but fine when the car is moving then the fan
control temp sensor is possibly kapput. The fan relays on Sierras are known to
be dodgy too. The one I fixed for a friend was hidden behind the glovebox as I
recall.
