• Engine hesitates
• The problem a bit like driving a car with a manual choke when not enough
choke is being used.
• But problem persists even when engine warmed up, even after driving for an
hour or so.
• The problem is present when changing up and also when driving at constant
speed in 4th or 5th
• When driving with a constant pressure on the accelerator there is an
intermittent power loss as though the driver had taken his foot partly off
accelerator this lasts only a few seconds but problem persistent.
• When pulling away after starting there can be a marked loss of power for a
few seconds in 1st, 2nd and 3rd
One of 2 things
Faulty Lambda sensor (most likely) or someone has fitted incorrect
plugs.

Change the Lambda sensor. They are notorious for not showing up as a
fault on the Fiat 'Examiner' tester.

I had this problem intermittently on my Punto GT for around a year and Fiat
couldn't trace the problem - they installed 5 new Lambda Sensors (always the
first solution to ANY Punto problem), HT Leads, Plugs, a new ECU and Chip
and still the problem occurred - Turned out to be a loose wire going into
the ECU in the end and cost 2 minutes in labour charges to fix - luckily the
car was under warranty!
