Does anybody know of a decent book on the Galaxy (mines an R Reg petrol
car)?

Haynes don't seem to do one. I did find a book in a French supermarket,
covering the diesel VW varieties and I was tempted to buy but thought
I'd try and find something in English first. I'm not too worried about
the engine because I'd probably take it to a garage if anything serious
went wrong.

Perhaps Ford does a suitable book - that's an avenue I haven't pursued
yet.

There is no book. At least not for the UK market. ALL diagnosis is
carried out using FDS2000.

What, even for things like squeaking brakes?

Possibly. Ford use different manuals for different systems. Vehicle
construction manual, test manual and wiring diagrams. Test and wiring
are not supplied on later models.

Thanks. That's a pain. I was hoping to find a wiring diagram and some
useful hints on trim removal so that I could run a wire through to the
rear to switch a relay so that the auxiliary power sockets in the 'boot'
only come on when the ignition is on. My coolbox will flatten the
battery if I forget it for very long and sod's law says I will - just
when there's nobody around to give a boost start!

I would have thought a simple relay setup should be easy enough without
a manual.
