Hi folks,

Can anyone tell me about this Ford Engine?

Block number 2737E6015A

It may be a off a Cortina, it's capacity seems to be about 1500cc

Thanks

looking in "rebuilding and tuning ford x flow & pinto engines" it says:-
e.g.
pinto = 70HM 6015a-a
xflow =711M 6015 ba (post 1970)
does not help you but may be of interest to others.

Do you have the VIN plate of the Cortina?
if so the crossflow codes would be...
j1A = 1300 low compression
j2A = 1300 High compression
L1A =1600 LC
L2A = 1600 HC

What physical layout is the engine?
What is the expected age?

P.S. If I sound like I know something it is a good bluff, it is all out of
the book.
ISBN 1 899814 21 3 (incase you wanted to know.)

Isn't this the "pre-crossflow" engine? Came in 1200 and 1500cc variants.

The block number appears to be that from the 1559cc (1600) Mk2 Cortina.

The pre-crossflow 1499cc engines should have a casting number of 116E,
120E,2731E or 701M.

Peter

This block casting number should be a crossflow.

Hi i'm a little french guy in FRANCE who played with my beloved ANGLIA 64
who has a 2737 E 6015 A engine from a Cortina Mark II (69') the 2737 E is
the pre-711M Ford engine.
It's the new pre-crossflow with 69mm stroke (If my memory is good), and the
new crossflow design head.
A in the block designation is for 1600 (long bloke to cope the longer
stroke), The 1000, 1100, 1300 cc block have a B normally.
It's a good engine : wash it, take it to a good tuner, he can well lighten,
balance your crank, put 711 M main caps (square type) with a line boring of
the block and the main caps, bought a A6 cam, an uprated oil pump (always a
new one), and go for playing all days long.
you can ask for IAN MELVILLE in SPECIALISED ENGINE in 15, Curzon Drive,
Grays, Essex Phone is 01375378606.
It's a good tuning firm, and not to expensive for the really good service
they offer, you even can look your engine building.

If you phone to IAN, ask Hello! from me (Cédric from France) i bought a XR2
CVH ENGINE from them.

best regards,
