Hi,
Can anyone advise me which cars were fitted with Stromberg CD125
carburettors as standard? I have a twin setup on an Alexander manifold
for a Triumph Herald 948 or 1200, and I am having difficulty finding new
diaphragms. Several of the (usually helpful) local sources have told me
my carburettors never existed! Someone did suggest they were possibly
fitted to the sportier variants of the Hillman Imp - anyone know for
sure?
Cheers,
Bill.

Hi,

125CD Strombergs were definitely fitted to Sporty Imps, ie. Sunbeam
Stilettos and Sunbeam Imp Sports.

Contact the Imp Club for spares.

The Imps Sport was the only major application.

Hillman Imps: I also vaguely remember seeing a 125 on a Chrysler
Sunbeam [the 930cc version, which was basically a bored-out Imp
engine) when i was in the process of hurling the 930cc engine
into a skip to make room for a 1600...

Sunbeam 928cc Hatch used the larger bore Zenith (Stromberg) CD150 same
as the version with the cooking version of Avenger engine.

This version definitely had twin Strombergs. Maybe
someone had "been at it"?

Sounds like or it could have been a pre-production car -- in any case the
standard single 150 "should" give the same better performance.

Thanks for all the replies regarding these carburettors, I now have a few
leads on where to find spares,

I believe that it was Imps that used these carbs. I have buried somewhere in
my garage a pair of service kits that I bought in error from the Rootes
dealer about 25 years ago. Sadly the kit does not include the diaphrams only
lots of gaskets and seals. If they are of use to you I will dig them out.
