Can I put a 2.0L head from a Sierra onto my Capri 2.0L block? My intention
is to put a head on with hardened valve seats and bigger valves to aid
economy? and performance. Can I put a DOHC head on? Or EFI units? What are
the limitations?

Any info gratefully received

Thanks in anticipation

Nige

Well, if you get a post 86 'F' marked head (you'll need to see the
engine with cam cover to see the F marking) you'll find it drops on no
problem - instant unleaded. Needless to say, change the oil spray bar at
the same time.

>and performance. Can I put a DOHC head on?

Not easily. The 8V Twink is not like a 16V cossie, which isn't really
like a Pinto. If you really want to, you can look into the DOHC, but
there are issues regarding the ignition systems from what I recall (I
considered this change myself).

>Or EFI units?

Yes, if you mean a straight engine (say from a Sierra 2.0 GLSi) - but
you'll need all the associated wiring.

> What are
>the limitations?

Just a crazy amount of hassle. Anything will fit if you really want it
to ;)

All the 2 litre Pinto heads have the same size valves - there is no "big valve
head" although the 2.0i injection Sierra head has a better port shape with more
flow and a bit more power. Post 89 engines have seat inserts fitted from the
factory.

What do you mean by DOHC ? The Sierra Cosworth is essentially a Pinto bottom
end with a 16v head but the DOHC engine from the Escort RS2000 is a completely
different engine.

Where are said 'F' markings? And does it matter if the block
in question is one of the low compression Transit jobbys?

Cheers

I missed out a word - belt. Cam /belt/ cover. *slaps head* When you look
at the engine, it usually has a letter on the cambelt cover, F denotes
the earliest unleaded blocks.

I don't know about the different blocks - I see no reason why it
shouldn't fit, how does the Pinto get different compression figures?

Dunno, that's what I'm asking you ;-) I'm guessing at shorter pistons
but I'll check. I may end up bunging a whole later engine
in anyway given the ease to which the Transit ones come out.

Compression height of the pistons me bucko :)

The Stealth Bomber is black, angular and with pointy bits sticking out in odd
places - so do you think Grace Jones might be invisible to radar ?? Everything
