Please don't tell me that MacGas / Flogas has a 'bottle finder' on
their website, I am fully aware of that and it really is much worse
than useless. It simply lists the Flogas outlets, the vaste majority of
which do not stock the BP Gaslight bottles, in fact many have never
heard of it. Ringing Flogas themselves, is a similar waste of time. I
am also aware that Homebase stock them, but I'm only interested in the
independent outlets around the UK.

For those not familiar - It comes in a choice of 5Kg or 10Kg see
through plastic bottle, a green upper, and light coloured main body. A
superb idea, where the container is much lighter than either steel or
alloy and you can see the amount of gas you have left. Except the idea
seems to have been side-lined, not well supported by Flogas.

So I'm now trying to compile a definite list of known to stock it
independent outlets around the UK.

If you know of any, I would appreciate it if you could please add them
to the end of this thread with company name, address and phone
number...

I had a very good phone chat with Flogas as I use Flogas and asked them
to change me over to Gaslight unfortunately they are unable to do this
due to contract arrangements with Homebase.

Unfortunately BP were frozen out of the caravan market by the bullying
tactics of Calor who threatened anyone who stocked gaslight bottles with
withdrawal of supply. I did complain to the Office of Fair Trading but
got nowhere. Basically they didn't understand the difference between
touring vans and statics. Caravan Club also were not supportive - too
cosy a relationship with Calor.
Calor eventually responded with the Calorlight bottles with the gauge on
top most of which now don't work. Now they've blown away the competition
they've tightened up the exchange rules.

I know they have some sort of contract with Homebase, but not the
details. I refuse to buy from Homebase, because last year they were
refusing to provide refills unless you had a receipt proving you had
bought the original from them- they do seem to have dropped this
condition now, but their ᅵ32.99 for the 10Kg refill makes it not worth
while. I would rather spend ᅵ20 on fuel, to collect one at ᅵ25 than pay
Homebase and I now have it sourced at ᅵ22.50 for 10Kg anyway around
2/3rds what Homebase charges.

Yesterday I wrote a lengthy email to Flogas's CEO complaining about the
massive and ridiculous variation in refill costs and the problems of
sourcing, plus their find a GasLight bottle website basically telling
lies and their useless Helpdesk. I also made clear that the system
itself is perfect for our use, if only it were properly supported.

Today I received a phone call from their Marketing Manager, who thanked
me for drawing all this to their attention, it seemed they were not
aware of just how difficult and expensive it had become.

He has promised to try to get things sorted out and assured me they
were not trying to drop support for the system, but expand it.

Have you tried to swap bottles with a Flogas dealer who carries both
their metal and the light bottles? You just then need the pigtail or a
new regulator. Worth doing simply for the lighter bottles.

Yes, I remember that.

There are lots of Flogas stockists around, Flogas need to be persuaded
to get them to stock the Gaslight system.
