Electrolux Fridge Electronic Ignition Problem

I have purchased a Motorhome with an Electrolux Fridge. For gas operation
there is a rocker switch that flashes together with a ticking noise of the
spark generator of the electronic ignition.

The fridge lights okay but the switch carries on flashing and I turn the
switch off.

I have been told that the switch flashing should stop when the burner is lit
and be left in the on position to automatically re-light if required. I have
always had a manual push switch to ignite previously. There is no little
window to see if the flame goes out and therefore there is a risk of the
fridge burner extinguishing without knowing.

Should it stop flashing when lit? What device stops it flashing?

I have recently changed the complete burner but the problem was occurring
before that. The fridge does light and operate okay.

Thanks

The ignitor box is faulty and requires replacing. It contains the electronic
gismo that recognises the flame.Your local Dometic service centre will help

The electrolux (dometic) engineer on here will prolly tell you this using
the proper terms, but I'd say that the flame sensor is out of alignment, if
it's not detecting enough heat, then it doesn't know the flame is lit, and
hence keeps on trying to light the gas,
i'm not sure if it is a separate probe, or the sparker probe (there's those
terms i mentioned :), but basically they can either be out of the flame
path, or more likely, have a carbon coating on them, which is insulating the
probe from the heat,

i know there is a set gap the sparker electrode needs to be above the
burner, and if it's not correct you don't get a good ignition every time,
but i'm sure Michael will come on here and tell you to clean the relevant
parts, and try again,
certainly a lot cheaper than £50 for a new igniter module to rub some steel
wool over the probe.

Hi David

I had the same problem only a few weeks ago my ignition light kept
flashing after the burner had lit (Yes it should stop flashing when
lit there is a thermocouple over the burner flame and when it is hot
enough it switches the igniter off, If the flame goes out it cools
down and automaticlly tries to re-ignite the burner) I posted a
message up a couple of weeks ago under "Electrolux Fridge Problem" and
was given the information to confirm my suspicion that the flame was
not strong enough to switch the igniter off and the fridge wanted a
service, So i took the fridge out took the burner out and cleaned
it,cleaned the flue, replaced the jet then re-assembled it and it now
works fine. On mine there is a veiwing window inside the bottom of the
fridge to see the flame.

The burner/jet has been changed. The thermo coupling seems to be doing
it's job. The fridge lights first time. The flame is constant and
good.

I am interested in the suggestion that the electronic sensor gismo
needs changing though? Where and what is this? What device in the
flame sends the signal to the gismo? The only 2 items in the flame are
the ignition probe and thermo coupling which both appear to be
operating okay. Maybe this electronic gismo box theory might be
correct.
Where is the electrolux expert?

Hi David

If you follow the lead back from the thermocouple it goes to a module
(Which i assume is the electronic igniter) it is situated under a
plastic cover attached to the back of the fridge ("it was on mine")
You can probably see it through the ventilation grilles on the outside
of the van. The electrolux expert you are looking for is Michael Leete
Im sure if you look back over the postings you will come across him.

Does anyone know what the gap on the ignitor should be
Thanks

Around 1/8" I would guess, but if memory serves, you cannot really
adjust the gap. The metal wire is very hard/ very rigid to withstand
the constant heat. If it is worn, you just replace with new.
