My Talbot Express van has been sat at my main dealers for over a month
awaiting 4 rocker arms. Apparently these have to come from somewhere
in Europe and they seem unable to give me a delivery date. I've
e-mailed Peugeot customer relations but no result so far.

Has anyone else had any problems with Talbot spares and any
suggestions on how to speed things up.

Thanks

Paul Baker

to be a Fiat unit you are SOL on that score of course.)

If it's the "Sofim" 2.5 diesel there should be no problem.
This unit was used in "Sevels", Ford used it in diesel Sierras and
Granadas, Iveco used it in Dailys, LDV used it in 400s so there is a
huge choice.

It's a 2.5 litre diesel (non-turbo) registered in 1991

One company to avoid is
Italian Motor Services
Nimmington Road
Blackheath
West Mids
They sell the spares if you can get them, they have been sending me a part
for 2 months and refuse to give a refund! I cancelled the order after non
delivery.

Your engine is probably not the 'sofim' unit. It is more likely the same as
Citroen CX/C25 or Fiat Ducato. I'll ask around and get back to you.
Apologies for delay - ISP problems!

Just to cloud the waters a bit more, AIUI, the Talbot, Peugeot and
Citroen used the same engine (2.5 OHV diesel), and the Fiat had one of
its own (2.5 OHC diesel)

I checked with Citroen and they have inlet rockers (Pt No 90335) in stock.
Exhaust rockers (90412) are awaiting delivery from France! I am waiting to
hear from alternative suppliers.
Cheers for now

AFAIK the 2.5D used in all three *was* the "Sofim/Iveco" 2.5. It
certainly looks very similar. The 1.9s are a nightmare- no two vans
seem to have an identical unit.

Thanks for the reply. I managed to get through to Peugeot Customer
Relations. The guy I spoke to looked up the part number (90412) on his
computer system and confirmed that they were awaiting delivery from
France. He also confirmed that my dealer had these parts on backorder
and that there was quite a queue building up. Hopefully something will
happen soon.
