My Group is looking to buy two Lichfield Challenger 5's. I've tried Google
without much success - can anyone point me towards a retail (NOT mail order
please) supplier anywhere near Heathrow Airport?
Thanks,

Lichfield are now owned by Vango. Unfortunately, unless you can find a
retailer who has old stock of the Challenger 5 you are going to be out of
luck I'm afraid - they don't make them anymore.

I found that, then I saw this on
http://www.jacksons-camping.co.uk/lichfield/touring.htm
"Lichfield tents are being discontinued or re-produced under the Vango name"
There doesn't seem to be much under Vango either though.

That's a shame because they are very nice summer tents. I seem to
recall that our group bought Freetime Diamond Star 180s last time
because we couldn't find any Challengers. Similar design but the
quality isn't the same.

They were very popular for years - a huge seller. We still get loads of
enquiries about them.
Good luck in your search

Any recommendations for a "normal" A-frame similar tent? Force 10's,
although good, are a little heavy and outside our budget - if Vango still
make them!
(I had heard Vango wanted to "retire" the F10 and replace the 'market' with
their Discovery (geodesic / hoop type) range, but of course the nylon
monstrosities couldn't possibly stand up to 15 years of Scout Group abuse
like our F10's already have - built in obsolecence, anyone?)
:-(

The Freetimes that I mentioned are OK if you're looking for something
cheap. My preference is for the tunnel design but that doesn't work if
you've got people who like to be able to stand in the tent.
