Keep looking on Ebay.co.uk or try the US websites like:

not negate the price advantage.

Thanks to all

Had a look at all mentioned. US does seem appealing on cost. Are all VHF
radios the same internationally and are the same frequencies and dedicated
channels used throughout Europe?

No, the US and Canadians use some different frequencies but most sets
have a switch to select where you are operating. Anyway, look for a Star
M-298 by Silva. Should be £109 or £119. I got mine from Mailspeed Marine
in Warrington (they are on the net too). They come with a NiMh battery
which is a lot better than a NiCad one. And they are "water resistant"
which I think means it can get rained on for a minute! :)

Gloucester boat jumble is only a couple of weeks away you konw....
Or you could check out any Amateur radio supplies. A 2m handheld is cheaper
than a marine one and is just as good, if not better....

In fact here you go £99 - the best price I've seen so far:

http://www.allgadgets.co.uk/ag/product.asp?dept%5Fid=10&pf%5Fid=AG3823

And I can recommend this firm. I've ordered from Allgadgets before and
had a prompt service...
