Do herons eat rabbits ? Daft question I would have said but it seems the
answer is 'Yes'.

Yup. Herons will scavenge just about anything, and prey on whatever
they can get.

They will probably eat whatever they can get. I found a dead heron some
time ago, I was surprised how small its body was. They look like big birds
from their wingspan but they actually aren't.
