Does anyone know of a supplier of the pinch roller and idler wheels for a
Ferrograph 777 reel-to-reel tape recorder manufactured in the UK in the
early 1970s?
I sent about $A200 to a guy in the UK about two years ago who assured me he
could obtain them. Come in sucker. The Ferrograph Company went out of
business some years ago and there must be many of thse machines around the
world still in working condition apart from the rubber rollers which will
have all perished by now.
Look forward to any suggestions. It's ancient technology now but I still
have a lot of archival material on tape which I would like to transfer to CD
before it is too late alltogether.

In the UK there is a company EMAS who sell spares for Studer & Revox,
perhaps they can help. Or suggest a dealer. Their Tel No is 01246 275479 fax
01246 550421 .Another company may be Technical & General on 01892 654534
they mainly advertise spares for old record decks, and perhaps may be able
to suggest something.

Ferrograph do still exist, but they seem to be in a different technology
now, We use their products at work, and they now make Alpha/Numeric Matrix
display wallboards. I can get the address from work, and perhaps see if they
know if anyone bought up the tape recorder operation.

Regards

Alan

Brian,
The last time(1996) I bought a pinch roller & other bits the business was
run by Lee McFarlane and the address was as follows:

Ferrograph Spares & Service
134 TEDCO Business Centre
Viking Industrial Park
Jarrow
Tyne & Wear, NE32 3DT,
UK
Tel (0191) 428 3432 Fax (0191) 428 3388
email: l...@ferrograph.win-uk.net

strangely enough though, the Invoice which accompanied the parts had a
different address to the above and was:
Ferrograph Spares & Service
Suite 7, Cookson House
River Drive,
South Shields
Tyne & Wear
NE33 1JX
UK
Tel (091) 427 7774 Fax (091)427 5566
Perhaps he was using up old stationery ??

Was this the same address you sent your money to? If you get stuck, I can
let you have the old pinch roller off my Logic 7 which was OK but I decided
at the time to replace it anyway.

Regards

Mike

I have bought things from Lee in the past successfully but delivery always
took a long time. However the addresses quoted are not current and Lee has
not not replied to an email for many months. I have one phone number
somewhere, I'll try to find out whatever happened to Lee and the spares.
Last time I spoke to him he did not have any pinch wheels or idlers. You
might like to look here for Ferro spares:

I do hope it wasn't me who told Brian about Lee in the first place.

Anyone got a Super 7 or Logic 7 for sale?
