NEWS FOR THE NORTH OF ENGLAND

* Today the Stockport Radio Society is celebrating its 80th year. In
commemoration, the society is running two Special Event Stations, GB0SRS
and GB8SRS, from their headquarters. The stations will be active on HF
most weekends in June and each Wednesday evening. The modes in use will be
SSB, CW and PSK31. On two metres, the modes will be SSB and FM.

* The West Manchester Radio Club is holding the 4th Red Rose QRP Festival
today, Sunday the 4th of June, at the Formby Hall, Adler Street in
Atherton, Manchester. The event opens at 11am and there are trade stands,
special interest groups, car parking, disabled facilities, refreshments, a

* Leeds & District Amateur Radio Society's Car Boot Sale takes place today,
Sunday the 4th of June, at Yarnbury Rugby Club, Brownberrie Lane,

* A new ATV repeater, GB3YT, is due to come into service today, Sunday the
4th of June. It is sited at Queensbury, near Bradford, and replaces GB3ET
which closed down last year. Reception reports would be welcomes by the

RSGB Yearbook.

* Great Lumley Amateur Radio & Electronics Society will be taking a bus to
the Elvaston Rally on the 11th of June. The bus will leave Lumley

But I couldn't find it. I went round Atherton a couple of time, being hooted
at for going too slowly by other motorists, who presumably knew where *they*
were going, without seeing any signs of a Rally nor any directions on
signposts. I found a place in the A-to-Z called Alder St. but Adler St.,
Atherton is not listed.

That should read Alder Street.
