Anyone done MARS mod on IC706 for marine Tx ???

Hi there

Has anyone done the MARS mod on the IC 706 (mine is a mk1) to enable
Tx on 156 to 158 Mhz ??

I've found a couiple on the web, but would like to find someone who's
done it.

Only if you used it in a non-emergency situation.

It is my belief that it is not illegal to have "opened-up" equipment and
SOLAS regs (Safety Of Life At Sea is an international treaty to which the
UK is a signatory) say that ANY equipment may be used in the case of
"imminent danger to vessel or life".

Correct but do you really believe that is why the OP wants to do it? Flying
porcines I think!
