I want to modify my Alinco DX70 to transmit on 5MHz. I have already
discovered this:

http://www.hampedia.net/alinco/dx-70th-tx-and-rx-mod.php

It says that to "TX/RX everywhere remove both jumpers c and e", which
seems straightforward. However, in my radio, jumper e is already
missing, whereas in the black-and-white photo on the above site the
jumper e is in place.

So I want to be sure that jumpers c and e are indeed the right ones to
remove -- the "jumpers" are actually tiny SMD resistors, so I don't want
to make a mistake. Has anyone here successfully done this modification,
I wonder?

I suggest you try the 5MHz Yahoo group or the alinco_all one. If you're not
in these groups, I'm happy to ask for you. I find both groups quite useful
and free of the usual suspects. I suspect the difference you are seeing is
due to the country customisation done by Alinco before shipping. I assume
you've check that the 5MHz band falls within one of the band filters in the
radio, this is can be an issue with some radios.

Have a look at this page Ian (if you haven't already).
