IMHO if the current rev sw youve got is not pissing you off then leave
it, otherwise it seems a painless upgrade. Done one before with no bother
but just like updating the bios on so called unbrickable PC motherboards
if it aint broke!

according to the 2nd page, it appears they have thought of this too.

3) Do not worry if the firmware writing step fails for some reason.
(e.g. RS-232C cable has a bad contact or there is an unexpected power
failure)

The status of the firmware writing step is backed up on your
PC. Remove and reconnect the power supply cable. Then repeat the firmware
writing step.

Yes,
Several less technically competent people who have attempted it have
managed to brick their radios. Most have eventually been recovered with
help but some ended up having to send the radio off to someone else to
get them back operational.
It is important that the manufacturer's upgrade instructions are
followed exactly. If it doesn't tell you to push a button (such as
on/off) then don't push it.

thanks for all the advice and i do understand "if it aint broke dont
fix it" many of times experience with this . lol
in futher reading also i see that it was more benifishal to update at
the early revisions because of bug fixs ect
on investigation of my own and what i can find on web their doesnt
seem to be much to gain for udating as mine s/n001xxxxxxxxxxx
but thanks guys

have a verry merry christmas to one and all.
