And here's where "Osama" recruited leading hijackers -- right here in
Florida, in the winter of 1999 - 2000. Two out of three of the 9/11
hijack teams, at least (among 4 dozen others). They included Mohamed
Atta ("pilot" of the plane that hit the North Tower of the WTC; Marwan
al-Shehhi, ditto the South Tower; and Khalid al-Mihdhar, known as one
of the six organizers of the 9/11 attacks.
Oh yes, Osama's name wasn't Osama then. It was Able Danger.

Fifteen of the 19 hijackers got their US visas at the US consulate
there, which -- according to ex-visa boss J Micheal Springmann-- was
dominated by ..... al-CIAda.

There are only three places in KSA where the US has diplomatic
representation.
The Consulate at Dhahran does not issue visas of any kind.
The Embassy at Riyadh issues only non-immigrant visas.
The Consulate at Jeddah is the only place in the country that issues both
sorts of US visas.
So it's not really very odd that most of the visas would be issued from
there.

"J. Michael Springmann was head of the visa section at the US consulate
in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in 1987-88. Most of the officials at the
consulate, he said, worked for the CIA and other US intelligence
services. Springmann commented on the ease with which people were
granted US visas there; he later realized they were in a CIA training
programme for anti-Soviet fighters in Afghanistan.
"The US Visa Express programme was inaugurated on 25 June 2001 "for
expediting nonimmigrant visa applications throughout Saudi Arabia".
Springmann remarked: "According to the Los Angeles Times, 15 of the 19
people who flew airplanes into buildings [on 9/11] got their visas at
the CIA's consulate in Je[ddah]." Asked whether he thought "the CIA
could have had its fingers in a terrorism directed towards the United
States", Springmann replied: "Well, who knows? I've seen it suggested
that it was one way of getting the Americans involved at bases not only
in the Middle East but at bases surrounding Russia".

It also seems worth noting that an anonymous CIA official was credited
with getting a visa for -- was it one of the 1993 WTC bombers? -- at
the US's Sudanese embassy.
