Swiss voters strike a blow against corporate greed
Swiss voters struck a blow against corporate executives and the culture
of greed that has driven senior executive salaries into the
stratosphere, with little regard for work or company performance. Last
year, the head of Credit Suisse

made 1,800 times more than the lowest paid workers in the company. A 200
to 1 executive to average-worker-salary ratio is not uncommon among the
top Swiss firms. The number of executives pulling down a million a year
in salary has quadrupled over the past few years.

Even the local mutants and dragons could manage to join in; direct
democracy is "learning by doing". Take the citizens' law-proposal.
Collecting the needed endorsements (say 1 or 2 percent of electorate)
gets reported in the media. Then the proposal goes tp parliament for
debate and vote: there is much press coverage, tv debates about the
proposal etc.. Then a ballot (referendum) date is set and again there is
a huge amount of information and debate. All of this takes many months
or even a few years. Yer can't miss it!
