A general election cannot provide a clear answer about citizens' support for single issues. So the matter of UK - EU relations remains open.
It is quite likely that there is (15 Dec. 2019) a majority of UK adults against "brexit". Since 2016 many people have learned what changes brexit will cause and are in a position to make a much better informed decision.
So we should soon hold another ballot, putting the government's proposed "deal" against keeping the one we have.
How to obtain another "referendum"? Well, we can ask our MPs, as Parliament must decide about holding such a ballot and about its content.
Better would be the method of veto-referendum instigated by the electorate. This can be done in some countries, for instance in Italy a binding veto ballot ("abrogative") can be called with a proposal supported by 500,000 citizens (only half a million, less than 1 percent of population). We should use this here too.
