As a PWME I have suffered medical negligence.

I am completely alone with no friends or family near enough to help.

Have lost 3 - 5,000 GBPs worth of material goods and what remained of my health, which is beyond financial worth.

Please help. My real name is Spencer Campbell :: location Manchester, More info if I get a responce, Please use this group as all other methods are not working as far as I know.

As another PWME, far too far away from you, there's little I can do. But
what about your GP practice & your local council social work department?

OK. Thanx 4 the only responce so far.

But what about your GP practice & your local council social work department?

Don't know who my GP is and probably no good as most Docs do not believe in ME but call it CFS, which is totally wrong.

As 4 social workers they have been resposible 4 most of the loss and damage.

Surely you know what practice you're registered at? They'll know which GP
is your one but any of them will see you.

If you're not registered anywhere then ring any of the local ones and tell
them you're not (and why that is) and ask what to do. Maybe ringing NHS
DIrect would be useful too... I dunno.

Don't assume all GPs are still 'old school'. As for ME vv CFS, the name may
matter to you, but really the point is: you're ill, need help, and they're
doctors. Who cares (in the first place) what they call it, they're meant to
see you and help. And if you've had ME for ages you'll quite likely have
other medical problems too. Let them look for those...

If that's actually true, rather than paranoia, ring your local CAB and ask
how they can help you make a formal complaint and/or get something done
about it. There are plenty of people who will help if there's been some
sort of injustice.

If it's not /factually/ true, but just the way you feel, that in itself is
something you should be able to find someone (at the doctor's?) to talk to
you about.

If you're old enough to be classed as a pensioner, or heading that way,
charities like Age UK might help you... because even if you didn't have
ME/CFS you'd still have day to day problems. You could maybe try ringing
the 'Silver Line' charity: http://www.thesilverline.org.uk/

Other than that I would expect that there will be some sort of community
centes, or drop-in centres or church-based groups in your area where you
could at least find some human contact.

I know it's HARD to go out and meet people, when all you want to do is go
back to sleep, but a year or two ago I registered on the 'meetup' website -
http://www.meetup.com/ - which is one that allows groups of people anywhere
in the world to form social groups with like-minded people or with similar
interests.

In and around the city I live in there's maybe 150 groups co-ordinated
through this website: walkers, mountain climbers, philosophical thinkers,
drinkers, people who meet for a cup of coffee & a chat... the list is
endless. Although the organisers of the groups have to pay a fee to the
website to run the admin side for them, it will not cost you anything to
register with the site, or to look at what's going on in your area, and in
my experience many organisers do not charge the people in their group
anything at all.

I joined a few eat-out groups eg one that just goes out for curries, one
coffee & chat one, a few others... For some of them, I've never been to
their events, which sound interesting, but are too far away to get to easily
(maybe on bus routes that are ok in the day time but spare at night so one
could get ther eok but have a problem getting home again etc), or on at
times that don't suit me, or whatever. But I still get the feeling that I
could be involved, if only...

I often can't face even thinking about how I'd get to a particular event
(can't walk far etc), but even so in maybe 18 months I've been to about 10
things. It's not a lot by well-people's standards, but it's much better
than the isolated life I had before, especially when I find I meet some of
the same people at different groups' events; I maybe don't really know who
they are but I do know I've seen them before... A big advantage is that
anyone who goes to an event organised through a site like this knows that
everyone concerned has also joined for broadly similar reasons; people tend
to expect to be talked to by total strangers in an open & friendly way.
