Technically I'm not with Freeserve cos I don't dial into them as ISP,
although I do download email from their server. Because I've never
much or recently used that particular address, I only get Freeserve
bulletins and mistaken emails (presumably to someone of a similar name
on a mailing list).

I've recently started to get spam? It's just occured to me this might
be due to the misdirected mailing list shots, which some spammer may
also be accessing the same mail list, unless FS mail address database
has been recently compromised. Any FS users here getting more email
spam then usual?

I've had an unusual rise in the amount of spam I have been getting, I
did put it down to posting to newsgroups, although I thought I had
sorted out my return address so it couldn't be spammed.

The address it is sent to is not the one I signed up to freeserve with,
though it is one I used a while ago. For those who don't know,
freeserve users can put anything in front of the @ bit of their address,
the spam isn't just to random letters infront of the @ it is actually an
address I have used before.

If you check out freeserve.help.misc you will see that other freeserve
members are also having similar problems.

Thanks for reading my muddled ramblings :o)

No, I have had very little spam over the years I've been with Freeserve.
Certainly it would appear to be less than several others, judging by
their comments on this NG.

Freeserve also seem good at filtering out most of the spam postings to
this NG too. Most of them I only see if others reply.

Regards
Ross.

I can't remember the last time I had any, actually.

same here, except for the last week or so - all the spam has come
through on the ng. Usually I just see a netcop's response.
