I'm jealous. I never got to take a ride in anything on my train set when I
was young. :(

Seriously though it's often worth looking at. Last Feb we went up to
Scotland for my wife's brother's retirement do. By the time we'd
counted petrol to the airport, airport parking, getting from Glasgow
airport into the city to continue by train etc it was actually
cheaper, and surprisingly just as quick, to go by train. We did the
London-Gleneagles-London bit in first class too.
You have to do some research though, the first price we got just by
putting in the start and end points and asking for a return was much
more expensive than what we paid in the end. We bought singles from
London-Gleneagles and Gleneagles-London for example. We have Senior
railcards too.
Another recent discovery. We live in Gillingham Dorset (no, that's not
a recent discovery, we knew that already, it's the next bit!). If I
buy a day return from Gillingham to Waterloo it costs 1.50 more than
if I buy a day return to Sailsbury and a day return from Salisbury to
Waterloo. I can buy both tickets at the ticket office in Gillingham
though. Daft innit?

Yep if they just made things simpler I'm sure a lot more people would travel
by train.

People will forget what you said.
People will forget what you did, but
People will never forget how you made them feel.

I've had four months of half my Rail Card price travel with online
offers Southern have had this year. Including 3 one way to London on
certain non rush hour trains.

I'm surprised hardly anyone recognised her. These days if you encounter
an elderly woman wearing a headscarf - or a crown - it's almost
certainly the Queen.
