There is a branch just up the road from me. This afternoon I was going to
Sainsburys with my disabled friend, Davie, and, as we came up to the door
of VP's, he announce that he wanted to pop in and get a price list 'cos
his fiancee was interested in getting a pic done of the two of them.
The picture taking session itself costs £25. You then choose the picture
or pictures you want and the size. Your first 7x5 print, in a fairly
basic frame, costs £75 (that's a special offer at the moment reduced from
£125. Subsequent 7x5's will be £125). Their largest size print, framed,
costs a a staggering £900. For that sort of money you coud buy a pc and a
digi-cam and do it yourself (and then do it for all the neighbours and
get your money back in a day).
What a rip-off!

& what a downright bloody annoying & *awkward* Website that is!!!
The Main Navigation Menu is a Shockwave Flash thing.
If you don't have ActiveX Controls Allowed in your Browser you see
absolutely *nothing* in the way of Navigation Links!
:-(
Not even any Plain Text Links.
& if you *do* allow the pesky ShockWave Flash Menu to Load & Run, the
Links jump around all over the place, expanding & Collapsing as you
Hover over them!!!
Just when you move to another one, the Links Collapse & the Link you're
looking at & aiming for moves!!!
*very* difficult to Navigate & it completely screws the natural
Hand-to-Eye Coordination that you use when using the Mouse.
& trying to Move around the Links using the TAB Key is a nightmare!!!

Well, someone has to pay the bills for the ridiculously
over-complicated, yet virtually unusable Web Design?

I didn't get any further than the first Page of of it!!!
That overly complex & confuzzling Navigation System was enough

If you mean the "Quoting Character" - the ">" (or in your case,
the ":") at the beginning of each Quoted Line in your Reply -
then that's cos you're using OutLook Express & you were replying to
a Post that was sent using "Quoted-Printable" Encoding...

The MicroPlanet Gravity Newsreader has a habit of sending Posts using
Quoted Printable Encoding, when they include anything other than the
standard 7Bit (ASCII) Characters.
& his Post included "£" GBP Pound Signs, which get encoded as =A3
A3 is the Hexadecimal Representaion of Decimal 163 which is the Number
used (in most Character Sets) for a "£" GBP Pound Sign
OutLook Express has always had a known problem when it comes to replying
to Posts sent using Quoted Printable Encoding - it can't determine where
the Beginning of the Lines are, so it can't suss out where to put the
">" or ":" bits in the Reply.
For more info about it have a look here...

Well I've never had this problem replying to Michaelangelo's posts before
which was why I was wondering.

Read ( oh and yes I have read them :-) ) ta muchly.
Well...
It happens whenever he (or anybody else who uses MicroPlanet Gravity
or similar Newsreaders) sends a Post that has any 8Bit Characters
(such as "£" GBP Pound Signs, or other stuff such as bits quoted
from Web Pages) in it.
Those Newsreaders automatically switch to using Quoted-Printable,
so as to send those 8Bit Characters as 7Bit ASCII Characters.

No not forgotten yet. Stuff only gets forgotten when it has to fall out to
make room for some new stuff so there :-P
Didn't need to - he was as horrified as I was.
Sorry, I was trying to be too brief there!!!
I should have qualified that a bit...
He's using MicroPlanet Gravity 2.60 & it's set so as to send posts
using Quoted-Printable when they include 8Bit Characters.
I'm not sure whether that is a User-Definable Option or if it's
Hard-Wired into the Program.

It seems as if your Version of MicroPlanet Gravity (2.50) *isn't*
set so as to convert posts that have 8Bit Characters in them to
Quoted-Printable.
It's sending them directly as 8Bit.
It's not the "Copying & Pasting" per se that is any prob - I only
mentioned that, cos Copying & Pasting stuff from Web Pages is a
convenient & common way of including 8Bit Characters in Posts.

Micro-Planet, who produced Gravity, have long since disappeared. Super
Gravity is an 'unofficial' upgrade which can still be obtained. You can
get more info, including stuff about the 'quoted-printable' issue and
also download it, if you want, from:
http://gravity.tbates.org/super.html
or
Super Gravity looks and feels just like Gravity so there's no new
learning curve to negotiate.
Thanks for that URL.
That very neatly & clearly explains what's been happening, regarding
the way that some people's Versions of Gravity send their Posts using
Qouted-Printable encoding.
& for more info about the various ways of coping with the problem
of sending 8Bit Characters in Messages, have a look at the various
MIME-related RFCs...

In particular...

RFC 2046 Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) Part Two:
