After a lot of searching I have found a brilliant app that will sync
specified directories on my PC to my Android tablet so I don't have to
cart paper around.

I decided to pay for it (that's a first) as it's so useful. I tried to set
up PayPal on my Google account and as well as my email address it keeps
asking for my PayPal 'phone number. I have no idea what that is, a far as
I know PayPal doesn't have my 'phone number. Anybody throw any light on
this please?

Sorry to answer my own post but I think I may have lost it.....

PayPal does have my 'phone number, it's just well tucked away. Having
added PayPal as a payment method I paid £3.79 to the developer and was
asked for my password. I entered my PayPal password three times and had it
rejected each time then realised it wanted my Google password so I managed
to pay.

How did I manage to make a payment without entering my PayPal password
though? Surly that can't be right?

That's how my Ebay account works. I click 'buy now' and the order goes
through. No direct contact with Paypal.

I've never quite had the courage to do that, it's much too easy to buy
things online as it is!

For Gods sake don’t give anyone your PayPal password, it’s not required
by anyone except PayPal.
Now the Google Playstore and the app developer have your PayPal email address
and password they could have a merry old time ordering stuff at your expense.
You’d be advised to change it now.

They don't have my PayPal password, it was the Google password that was
required which is why I am puzzled.

Once you've linked your PayPal account you don't need to enter your
PayPal password again. Same with Ebay, as Pete wrote - and increasingly
other sites.

Your earlier message said "I entered my PayPal password three times" so
they *do* have your PayPal password. It will be in their error logs.

Change the PayPal password as soon as possible!

Wouldn’t Dropbox offer the same functionality for free?

It's not a file manager it allows you to set up and run sync jobs. I have
a board meeting this afternoon, all the papers are on my main machine so I
just run SyncMe before I go and everything is on my tablet for the meeting.
