I was always keen on this sausage, from the days when I used to sell it in
Sainsbury's. It's not made with beer, rather it is intended to be eaten
with beer. A few years ago it disappeared, and I couldn't locate a new
supplier. Anyway, a fortnight ago I spotted it on the deli, and glory be
it's still there (a new one, of course, or rather I hope so!) I strongly
recommend that anyone who finds it in their local JS branch try a sample.
Smooth, not highly seasoned, totally delicious.

Gosh am I glad it's back!

Lidl also do a German version of the British sausage. It tastes
something like an English banger but it contains the secret ingredient
that you you usually only find in German ones. I think it's called meat.

in Bamberg, sausage one side Smoke Beer the other, at Christmas ! heavenly.
then repeat same in Rothenburg, then Nuremburg.

My local Lidl, being but a littl'un, doesn't have a deli counter. And I've
not seen it sliced and pre-packed. We're talking about slices off the
ostrich egg-sized one here.
