I received a text message from 07378 905633 earlier today it went like
this:
Your home is ready for smart meters and your upgrade is booked for
29/09/2021.
Your engineer will arrive will arrive between 8:00AM - 12:00 at 'my
postcode, and you'll receive further details by post/email in the next
few days. If you would like to change your appointment, please reply
'RESCHEDULE'
They then add a britishgas link for more details and a very lengthy url
with '
2.amazonaws.com' and loads of numbers and letters in it to access
a calendar reminder.
Now I don't want a smart meter and have always ignored all offers of
having one over several years with British gas. I have never requested a
visit to fit one. Is this some sort of scam, or is it Britishgases'
way of bullying me into having one fitted. I suppose that now I'm over
80 years young and feeling very past it and decrepit they'll be
expecting me to just let them come in and fit one.
