FAST TRACK ANNOUNCEMENT uk.people.rural (remove)
=======================
In the procedures established for maintaining the uk.* hierarchy
<http://www.usenet.org.uk/guidelines.html> there are provisions, where
there is a consensus and the proposal is straightforward and
non-controversial, to proceed by the "fast-track" method, so as to avoid
the necessity for holding a full vote.
I have now received a request to fast-track the following proposal:
delete newsgroup uk.people.rural
This proposal will be activated no earlier than five days from the posting
of this notice (i.e. not before May 18th), unless there are
objections (of which six or more, or any one which seems to the Committee
to be well founded, shall suffice to halt the process).
Objections should be emailed directly to Control at
<con...@usenet.org.uk>.
Objections will be resolved by the committee (comm...@usenet.org.uk)

Newsgroup line:
uk.people.rural People living in the countryside and their way of life
RATIONALE: uk.people.rural
It has long been custom within uk.* to check for groups that are not
being used and then to remove them. By doing this we keep the number of
dead groups down increasing the chances that someone stumbling across a
group will find it useful.
An analysis of the posts to uk.people.rural from 2009-07-01 to
2010-04-30 has shown that there there were 8 posts in that period,
details of which are shown below.

CHARTER:
uk.people.rural
uk.people.rural carries discussion about people who live in the British
countryside and their way of life, including relevant aspects of arts and
sciences such as farming, leisure, employment, society, services,
environment and communications. Animal rights, zoology and botany
discussions are not suited to uk.people.rural. These subjects are covered
by many other newsgroups which already discuss them in a rural context.
uk.people.rural is primarily concerned with rural people, not rural flora
and fauna. uk.people.rural offers a social focus for those in isolated
rural locations which lack social amenities. A periodic "Welcome to..."
or FAQ posting including basic netiquette may be drawn up with the
consent of the group.
Binaries/HTML
All posts must be in plain text. HTML and other types of formatted text
are not permitted. Binaries such as pictures should be posted on a
website or binaries newsgroup, then a plain text announcement posted to
uk.people.rural.
Advertisements
Only short infrequent adverts specifically aimed at rural people are
allowed.
