Hi,

Apparently Surrey County Council is to withdraw all bus subsidies.

Almost every rural bus service in Surrey is subsidised. For the fully
fit on benefit who live far from a JobCentre the prospect of walking
several miles to be there, sometimes before 10 am, would be daunting.
Add to that the DWP philosophy that ability to walk about 100 metres,
sometimes less, is sufficient to discount walking disability for any
distance and many who can't walk far will be even more deeply
affected. A disability bus pass, such as mine, will be no help if
there are no buses!

If subsidised services are withdrawn many of these people won't be
able to get to DWP and so their benefit may (will?) be reduced or
stopped.

It won't affect me as my service, though definitely rural, is
generally commercial. But if these services are withdrawn it will
affect an awful lot of people.
