Has anybody tried using a directional microphone (either shotgun or
parabolic reflector) in a theatre or other such place where the organisers
have failed to provide a T-Loop, or even radio mikes for the actors? I
gather that bird watchers regularly use such devices. I have a neck loop
which I use for listening to the TV and it has a microphone input, but
Connevans seemed singularly unhelpful when I asked about directional
microphones, saying I should spend my efforts on persuading the venue
operators to provide better facilities; but theatres don't work like that
:-( .

Last two times I could hardly make out a word of what was being said on
stage. I know the Mikado well enough, but would have liked to hear exactly
what was in the "little list", which the rest of the audience seemed to
find hilarious.
