She was born on 24 Sept 1912, the eldest daughter of Douglas Siddall and
Olive Raby, and was educated at Wallasey High School and Liverpool
University (BA 1st Class honours in history and medieval history; DipEd); MA
Cantab 1974.
She taught at the Wirral County School for Girls, 1934-36 and the
Cambridgeshire High School for Girls, 1963. She was a deacon of the Emmanuel
Congregational Church, Cambridge, 1958-66. She was a fellow of Hughes Hall,
1973-79, and Tutor, 1974-79.
She was senior vice-president of the National Council for Women, 1964-66,
and President, 1966-68. She was Co-Chair of the Women's Consultative
Council, 1966-68; Leader of the British delegation to the international
Council of Women, Bangkok, 1970; Co-Chair of the Women's National
Commission, 1973-75; Co-Chair of the UK co-ordinating committee for the
International Women's Year, 1975; Chair of the Westminister College
Management Committee, 1980-88; a member of the Commission on the Church in
the Seventies, Congregational Church in England and Wales, 1970-72
(Vice-Chair, 1971-72); Ministerial Training Committee of the United Reform
Church, 1972-79 and 1982-86 (Chair 1982-86); member of the Eastern Advisory
Council for the BBC, 1976-84 (Chair 1981-84); Trustee of the Homerton
College of Education, 1955-94.
She was appointed a CBE in 1975.
In 1936 she married Henry F Boulind (since died): they had two sons and a
daughter - one son survives her.
