Ivan Marks (Angler)

I suppose I'm not surprised to see little mention of the great mans passing.
(Don't suppose it'll raise a murmur during the upcoming BBC Sports
Personality)

Most who started angling as kids, particularly in the mid to late 70's will
have come across his name, and filled with awe.
Who didn't want fishing gear for Christmas endorsed by the great man?
Celebrity is the thing these days, and it comes easy in all walks of life,
even angling, but he was the first for this sport.
His name alone, being different from the norm, conjured up great images for
youngsters, including your truly.
The day I got my Ivan Marks kit out of the catalogue was a great indeed.

I've spoken to many of the top blokes in angling over the years, but I never
got to meet this legend, it'll be a while, hopefully, before get to put that
right now.
