Francis Trew, CMG, late Her Majesty's Diplomatic Service, Ambassador to
Bahrain, 1984-88, died 8 February, 2006. He was aged 74.

Francis Sidney Edward Trew - known as Frank - was born 22 February,
1931, the son of Harry Francis Trew, by his wife Alice Mary, and was
educated at Taunton's School, Southampton.

Career:-->2nd Lieutenant Royal Hampshire Regiment, 1949-51; Foreign
Office, 1951; Lebanon 1952; Amman 1953; Bahrain, 1953-54; Jedda
1954-56; Vice-Consul at Philadelphia, 1956-59; Second Secretary,
Kuwait, 1959-62; Foreign Office, 1962; seconded as Secretary, European
Conference on Satellite Communications, 1963-65; Consul, Guatemala
City, 1965-70; First Secretary, Mexico City, 1971-74; Foreign and
Commonwealth Office, 1974-77; Consul, Algeciras, 1977-79; Foreign and
Commonwealth Office, 1980-81; High Commissioner at Belmopan, Belize,
1981-84; Member of the Board of Devon Community Housing Soc, from 1994;
received Order of the Aztec Eagle (Mexico), 1975.

He was appointed CMG in 1984.

Mr Trew married in 1958, Marlene Laurette Regnery, by whom he had 3
daughters, May, Jane and Gillie.

The funeral takes place at St George's Church, Morebath, Saturday 18
February, 2006.
