Lord and Admiral President, Royal Naval College, Greenwich, 1991-93,
died 6 October, 2003. He was aged 67.

Michael Howard Livesay was born 5 April, 1936, son of William Lindsay
Livesay by his wife Margaret Eleanor Chapman Steel, and was educated
at Acklam Hall Grammar School, and the Britannia Royal Naval College.

Career: joined the Royal Navy in 1952; training appointments 1954-57;
qualified as aircraft direction specialist, 1959; Direction Officer,
HMS Hermes, HMS Aisne, Fighter Direction School and 893 Squadron,
1959-66; in command of HMS Hubberston, 1966-68, HMS Plymouth 1970-72;
Cpatain, Fishery Protection/Captain Mine Counter Measures, 1975-77;
1st Commanding Officer, HMS Invincible, 1979-82; Director of Naval
Warfare, 1982-84; Flag Officer Sea Training, 1984-85; Assistant Chief
of Naval Staff, 1986-88; Flag Officer, Scotland and Northern Ireland,
1989-91; Director: Scottish Nuclear,1993-98; ICM Scotland Ltd,
1994-98,Commissioner, Northern Lighthouse Board, from 1994 (Chairman
1997-2001); President, Royal British Legion Scotland from 1996; &c.

Admiral Livesay, was appointed KCB in 1989.

He married in 1959, Sara House, by whom he had two daughters.
