In the mid 70's there was a TV program called Rentaghost, you may or may not
remember same. There was a "ghost" Court Jester by the name of Timothy
Claypole, portrayed by an actor by the name of Michael Staniforth.

The only other info I have on him is that he also appeared in some Andrew
Lloyd Webber musicals,
such as Starlight Express.

Apparently he died in 1996, but I'd like to find out how, or what of, if
possible.

Sorry Brian, but I don't have any new info for you. What I would like to do,
However, is Hijack your post and ask for info on another Rentaghost cast
member - namely Molly "flash" Weir.

Is she alive or dead?

I've got absolutely no idea about either of them. Although Miss Popov is now
in Coronation Street (as good as dead).

I don't mind the hijack, but we'd better change the header....

I've been unable to locate an exact date or cause for his death, though
according to his agent it was some time in the late-eighties, probably
1987-88, which is the date given on his final resume update. Apparently he
died of a heart attack. Although he is remembered mainly for Rentaghost, he
was a very accomplished performer, with an impressive resume of theatre
roles.

Molly Weir is still alive and performs occasionally. She has also written a
couple of volumes on her childhood in Scotland. As for rest of the cast, Ann
Emery (Ethel Meaker) continues to be seen in children's shows, with recent
appearances in "Juliet Jekyll and Harriet Hyde" and "Miami 7"; onscreen
spouse Edward Brayshaw (Harold Meaker) died on December 28, 1990; Anthony
Jackson (Fred Mumford) has a busy career in the field of voice-over work,
with occasional television appearances; Michael Darbyshire (Hubert
Davenport) died on November 20th, 1979; Jeffery Segal (Arthur Perkins) is
generally retired and Hal Dyer (Rose Perkins) continues to act infrequently.

Is this on-line somewhere?

No - that was Barbara something - maybe Mullen or McMullen - something
like that. If Molly Weir married George Melly she'd be Molly Melly...

:-)

You're right; I'm wrong. Sorry.

Barbara Mullen it was.

Hang on though, didn't one play "Janet" on radio and the other on TV?

The resume text was provided by his agent and is reproduced in full with
some other actor research I did for the Rentaghost website, including a late
resume of Edward Brayshaw's. There are a couple of pieces that need to be
updated -- namely the recent death information -- but the main information
is there: http://www.claypole.demon.co.uk/rentaghost.htm There's a link to
the cast directory on the main page.
