Burt Rhodes, the former musical director of the Talk of the Town,
London, has died aged 80.

He was chiefly known for his love of music and cricket and was former
president and founder member of the Yorkshire County Cricket Club
Southern Group.

Mr Rhodes was born at Guiseley, near Leeds, West Yorkshire. He
conducted the BBC Orchestra and wrote the music for several TV shows.

Geoff Cope, Yorkshire's director of cricket, paid tribute to "one of
the finest gentlemen I have ever met. Everybody at Yorkshire is
saddened - he never missed a Test match here and used to travel to
Yorkshire away games." Mr Rhodes, who lived in north London, leaves a
daughter, Alison. His wife Flora predeceased him.

A funeral service will be held Friday 27 June, 2003, at Golders Green
crematorium, London.
