Raymond David Grant, 11th Baron de Longueüil (1921-2005)

The Barony of de Longueüil (of France) was created 26 Jan 1700 by
Louis XIV, King of France, for Charles Le Moyne, in requital of his
eminent services to Canada, and his Lordship of de Longueuil, in
Canada, was erected into a Barony,with limitation to his descendants
male and female.
The 11th Baron was a cousin of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. A
successful artist, living latterly in France, he served as a 2nd
Lieutenant in the Royal Army Pay Corps.
He was born Raymond David Grant, 3 September, 1921, second son of
Ronald Charles Grant, 10th Baron de Longueüil (1888-1959), by his
wife, Ernestine Hester Maud (1891-1981), former wife of Francis
Winstone Scott (who d. 1948), and fifth daughter of the Hon. Ernest
Bowes Lyon (1858-91), by his wife Issobel Hester Drummond, scion of the
Earls of Perth. The Baroness was thus a granddaughter of the 13th Earl
of Strathmore and Kinghorne (who was also the grandfather of Queen
Elizabeth The Queen Mother).
Raymond had an older brother, Raoul Charles (1919-42), who served in
the Royal Navy and was killed in action; he married in 1941, Marcelle
Aileen Mary (who married 2ndly 1953, Jonkheer J. Van Den Berch van
Heemstede, of Brussels), daughter of Georges Waterkeyn, of Egham,
Surrey No issue. Raymond also had two older half-brothers (sons of his
mother's firat marriage, Anthony Leonard Scott, (b. 1911), and Patrick
Drummond Scott, (b. 1913).
The 11th Baron maried 10 Aug, 1946, Anne Patricia, daughter of Patrick
Brough Maltby, by whom he had issue, one son.
The 11th Baron is succeeded in his title by his only son, Michael
Charles Grant, MB, BS (an onchologist who practices in Nottingham), b.
20 June, 1947, who is the father of three daughters:-
(1)Angela Grant, heir to the Barony (?), wife of Justin Tooth
(2) Rachel Grant, an actress
(3) Rebecca Grant, also an actress
