Wrong size item arrived. I got nowhere with the seller.
I wish to make a complaint to ebay, but it seems impossible to do this now.
The item was only £3.99, but it could have been £399!
Is there a way?

You can 'ask ebay to step in' after making a return request:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy/ebay-money-back-guarantee?id=4210&st=10#section3

Here's how you do it:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/default/ask-ebay-to-step-in?id=4701

(previously the process was 'opening a SNAD case' but I don't see the button for
that any more, so looks like they're rolled everything into 'returns'. I
haven't used this new process)

Been there and tried both links which got me nowhere.
After years of buying goods from ebay which at the end of the day turned out
to be mostly crap, I'm going back to Amazon where I can make at least make a
complaint.
Most ebay sellers seem to have a foreign name. I've selected and bought from
sellers with British names and the goods were okay.
The goods supplied from imports have mostly been inferior. Is that racist?
Or the truth?

So what happened when you 'asked ebay to step in' on your return request?

I could not get that far.
I've just discovered that if you do not use Paypal you can't get to the
Resolution center.
This seems to be a recent change. A good while ago I had no problems getting
to the Resolution Center. Goods had not arrived and I was refunded.

Debit card. I use a debit card for all online purchases.
Seems that ebay have sneaked this Paypal condition in.

Debit card on the ebay site, or debit card direct with the seller (over the
phone, perhaps)?

If it's on the ebay site it should be covered - it's possible the Paypal
wording dates from the time when Paypal was the only supported payment
method and they discouraged offline payments (cheques etc). Nowadays
they're trying to get rid of Paypal and do their own Managed Payments, and I
would have expected them to be covered.

Can you try getting in touch with a human at ebay to ask? They seem to make
it hard to find, but I'm sure there is an option somewhere.

Debit card on the ebay site. I've never telephoned any seller anywhere. I
can't speak Pakistani anyway.

There is a number to ring, but I just can't be arsed. Most of the stuff I've
bought has turned out to be crap anyway. Being a tight wad I have bought
shoes etc from ebay, they have all been crap.
I have paid more from decent suppliers and got what I paid for. Ebay sellers
sell crap, cheap crap.
