I'm looking for input on a decent day/time to have the auction end, any
opinions?
Cheers,
Rick
Sunday evening 17.00-19.00
By peanuts, do you mean less than a hundred quid? If so, weigh it in for
scrap instead.

I always avoid ending between 16.00 and 18.00 because a lot of people
will be travelling home at that time. OK, few will be working on a
Sunday, but you still risk missing everyone who's been out for the day
or whatever. I'd leave it until after 8pm.
No, it should fetch a few hundred quid, not that such an amount is peanuts
in itself but relative to what it cost.
I'd say between 9 and 10pm on a Wednesday or a Sunday night. There's bugger
all on the telly, and those seem to be nights when people
aren't as likely to be out on the piss/with woman etc.

Eh? Top Gear is on a Sunday. Antiques Roadshow. Usually a decent drama on
ITV and BBC1. CSI Sunday on 5US too? I probably record more on Sunday than
any other day.

To e-mail, change noise into sound.
I'm told Sunday evening up to about 2200. Dunno why as Sunday is usually a
good evening on the telly.

Yes, but TG finishes at 9pm, which is when the petrolheads might be tempted
to look on Fleabay. It's worked well for me in the past. I've also managed
to buy cars and parts cheaper than I expected when it ends at stupid times,
like 3pm on a Tuesday. However, I've also found that midweek nights -
Wednesday seems a bad one for buying things as there seems to be many bids.
I tried listing stuff to end about 12:30am on Sunday, hoping someone would
drunkenly bid on it, but that was surprisingly unsuccessful !

Laptop. Wireless.. Arm of Sofa. ... I can still watch the telly fine if I
really want to :-)

I'm afraid I can't multitask like that. Or just spend five minutes on
Ebay. ;-)

Well I have found that 17.00 to 19.00 is the optimum finish time for best
rewards on my ebay auctions. It is swings and roundabouts of course, but
later you also risk some people being out at the pub or doing other
'evening' things.
I've found finish at about 19:30 - 20:00, and if you can include two
weekends in your ten day listing, seems to work well.
Why not try some research ? Type your model in completed listings
all of which show the time, and see what comes up. If you don't get
enough results then widen the search until you do. Bearing in
mind the market for spares or repairs motors might be different
than for normal cars - attracting more trade buyers maybe.

good points, Most people in the motor trade work long hours anyway, they
dont have time to go online PC's at their work and will look at weekends inc
Sunday nights, whenever Ive had vehilces sell always bee a 3 day listing for
me Fri to Mon night, sometime's I have done Sun night, most of my other
auctions will not make good money on a Sun night but Mon day and PM,
however, things ive sold before like alloy wheels etc, Engine's and the like
finishing on a Sunday eve has been ok
Best times are not over a lunch or any point where TV is popular.
Sunday night may be slim as people will be preping for work etc.
Mon - Thurs week nights after Coronation Street and about 3.30 - 4
during the day (people get bored at this time).

I'd say finishing when most are at work is silly.

I'm in two minds about that. 3.30-4pm catches a lot of office workers
eBaying through their tea break. That's exactly when I used to list
stuff when I first started selling, and was often very pleasantly
surprised by the results.

And an awful lot more who can't.
