if it says there is no stand then it is not reasonable to expect there to be
a stand.

Crunch................
I think 'stand: no' is a bit minimal, but it *is* there. Personally I
would have listed very clearly 'NB Stand shown in photos NOT included in
auction' in bold type with a few asterisks either side of the sentence for
good measure to draw attention, but this seller didn't :o/ It is up to
the buyer to read the entire blurb, and ask questions about things which
seem ambiguous to them, though.
IMO, of course,
Grymma
What size is the TV? I have two or three unused TV stands around (and one
which I converted to a printer stand).

Likewise I can offer the OP a TV stand in black on a collect only basis
from Slough. It'll house up to a 28" widescreen telly and is basically
quite sound (I'd need to give it a clean to check the condition
properly). It was destined for the bin 'cos I thought it too heavy to
sell on eBay.

The FAQ for upce is at http:\\upce.org.uk
Most telly shops end up slinging em, I've seen rooms piled to ceiling with
stands no-one wanted, and they're the devils own when it comes to seperating
em. (We've even tried throwing a bucket of water over em ;-).
Just have a word at the local TV repair shop.

That brings to mind when TOG was selling a Honda CB500T chassis, and
had to keep telling potential buyers that the
SuperSoaker/trailer/house/bucket and spade weren't also included.

You know all those TV and press adverst that include a tiny "actual item not
as shown" disclaimer so small you can hardly read it? Same rules say you
are screwed.
Did you bid on the TV or the stand? A lot of auctions have photos with a CD
next to them for scale. Would you leave feedback saying "Lovely soft toy,
but didn't come with copy of Sergeant Pepper in photograph"? I photograph
anything I can't scan on a wooden table. It'd cost me a heck of a lot to
post a table with every Subbuteo set I sent out, so I tend not to lump them
together

not so. The listing said 'no stand', there ain't gonna be no stand.

How do you scan stuff on a wooden table?

What if it was the Stephen King book "The Stand" photographed on a
lecturn?
"The Stand" comes without a stand.
Standard stuff?

"I have no listings running right now and I'm screaming *bored*"
now, Gran, you're just being silly :-)
I've sold a couple of copies of 'The Stand' as it 'appens.

Yes, but what am I supposed to do with all these rulers that sellers
keep sending me?

Sell them on Ebay of course!
But remember to put a ruler next to them to show their size. ;-)

Don't photograph them on a TV stand though.

With a handheld scanner. (Been there, done that.)
Or by having one's non-handheld scanner sat on, um, a wooden
table.
