Opera is much the same.
I rarely have to re-enter my password whether I'm using Opera or Firefox.

eBay wants you password to look up the prices of completed auctions,
which is a bit excessive. There is no personal information available there.

Please note my email address changes periodically to avoid spam.
It is always of the form: month-year@domain. Hitting reply will work
for a couple of months only. Later set it manually. The month is
always written in 3 letters (e.g. Jan, not January etc)
You misunderstand, like many people I have been annoyed by ebay not 'keeping
you logged in until you sign out', (using ie6), using firefox this does not
happen.
In any case, absolutely anything you do on your computer is potentially
vulnerable, whether it is saved or not.

Possibly a reasonable feature of firefox in a private location, would worry
about an uattended PC though if more public.

Yes true (keyloggers), But it is even worse to have financially sensitive
passwords stored as these can be extracted by bad software at any time and
not just at entry of the passwords. i.e. if you have a concern about
something on your machine you would not then log onto your bank until you
felt confident you have eliminated the problem but if your passwords are
already stored it may already be too late.
