Having read many postings I realise that many people have had unhappy
experiences whilst in the care of Nazareth House in various locations around
the UK.

I find this very sad because I spent some time in a Nazareth House Mother
and Baby Home in Wrexham, North Wales. I can only say that looking back I
cannot fault them at all in the care and kindness that I received not only
from the nuns but from other staff employed there. This was a complete
contrast from the "care" I received from the then Liverpool Catholic Social
Services now "Nugent Care Society"

The nun in charge of Plas Gwyn was Sister Agnes Celine, whom I understand
received an award (I have no details) for her services to the women and
babies under her care.

My period of time at Plas Gwyn was from November 1969 to April 1970 and I
would be very happy to hear from any other women who spent time there during
the same period as myself or any other time.

It also appears that the Catholic Children's Society provides an on the face
of it, good service to anyone connected with an adoption from Nazareth
Houses in Bristol and Cheltenham and anyone who was cared for there. I would
be interested to hear of the experiences of anyone who has had counselling
or help from CCS at Bristol.

Hi, I too spent time at Nazareth hose (October '75 - March '76 under the care of Sister Celina, who was a truly wonderful lady. She did make an awfully traumatic time much more bearable with her compassion and support.
I was lucky , because through my determination and support from Sister Celina , I kept my baby. Many others were not so lucky and did not have the suppport outside Nazareth house and were therefore fore unable to keep their babies. I remember so vividly babies leaving without their mummies and the devastation they and everyone else around lived and felt.
I realise , particularly with what has unfolded over the years re- abuse and pressure of institutions to wrench babies away from mums, that us 'inmates' of Nazareth house Wrexham were truly blessed to have such an amazing lady to take care of us. god bless Sister Celina.
Love and best wishes to you all x

I too was in Nazareth House from August 1974-November 1974 and l can certainly say that Sister Celine was absolutely fantastic. I had to have my baby in the hospital because he was breech, much to my disapointment. We all worked as a team during the day. It was both a happy and a sad time, but l will never forget it, especially Sister Celine.

Hello there, I was born in Nazareth House Wrexham on February 4th 1973 with the birth name Nicholas Anthony Jardine. I was adopted within a few months and moved to Stafford. I've just started making enquiries about finding my birth mother who I believe was 16 at the time. Any info would be appreciated. Many thanks, Adam
