There is a Postdocotral Research Assistantship available for one year
initially, from September 2005, working on: Galaxy Evolution and SALT
Observations. This is in the Centre for Astrophysics at the University of
Central Lancashire.
The position would be suitable for a newly qualified PhD student wishing
to continue working in the area of galaxy evolution, and galactic
chemical evolution in particular, in observations and/or modelling.
Applicants with experience in any one of the following areas are
encouraged to apply: optical spectroscopy of integrated stellar
populations; x-ray spectroscopy of galaxies; modelling of stellar
populations.
The Centre for Astrophysics covers research in a wide range of fields and
is a member of the UK consortium that has a part share in the SALT
telescope, currently being commissioned at Sutherland.
