Astronomical Database Curator
The University of Edinburgh seeks an Astronomical Database Curator
to join the team in the Wide-Field Astronomy Unit of the Institute
for Astronomy providing the Science Archives for the WFCAM and VISTA
sky survey instruments.
You will be responsible for operating the archive (transfer and ingest
of data, regular database curation tasks), monitoring the health and
performance of the database and hardware, and supporting users by
answering queries, compiling FAQs and maintaining other documentation.
Candidates must have a relevant degree (physical sciences or computing),
experience of using both Windows and Linux operating systems and a good
knowledge of relational databases and SQL. Experience with enterprise-class
databases, knowledge of astronomy, and experience with managing computer

The post is available as soon as possible and initial appointment will
be for three years, with the possibility of extension. Appointment will
be on the Research Associate AR1A scale, GBP 19,460 - 27,989, depending
