Well, that's jolly good news...

It seems someone is adding extraneous headers, then, since the "Xref:
landlord..." line wasn't on the post that left here, nor on the version
returned by Demon.

Anyone care to suggest where this has appeared from, please, and what
its supposed function is (noting the Path: header as underlined)?

Sigh.

Every server that handles the article (except pure transit servers)
adds its own Xref header with the local article number, replacing any
other Xref header.

The copy of that post on Demon's server has:
>> Xref: news.demon.co.uk uk.railway:120313

The Xref header by convention carries the name of the server that added
it (this is because when they were first introduced, not all servers
added them, so it was necessary to be able to tell whether you were
looking at a correct one or one that was merely propagated from some
other server, and hence had the wrong article numbers).

Long day? ;-)

[interesting stuff]

Thank you; we live & learn...

BTW, e-mail copies of your posts are not necessary, thanks.

Looks like GG have brexited uk.railway today, setting
it to read-only. The reason given is spam advertising
illegal whatsoever, without saying most of it is related
to gm[...]il.com addresses.

uk.transport.london (sp?) had been brexited earlier.
