[This is a repost as there were no replies before, but I have a
horrible feeling that the spammers have killed the group and driven
everybody away..]

Hi,

I'm starting to become less impressed with one of my current hosting
providers, and am considering looking for a new host. Can anybody offer
any recommendations?

My requirements are:

* Linux hosting with PHP, MySQL, etc. I don't require an enormous amount
of webspace, but obviously, the more the better..
* UK-based
* Clueful ;-) and able to resolve any problems promptly by email
* SFTP access (or, better, SSH) for uploading files
* Secure email (POP3-over-SSL)
* Secure (https) and usable webmail
* Custom filtering on incoming email (ie, ability to reject/bounce email
to certain addresses, or forward/copy other addresses elsewhere)
* Able to pay by SO or DD or BACS (or not requiring VbV for card payments)
* Good value for money (OK, cheap, but not throat-cuttingly-so), less
than £10/month ideally.

Thanks for any suggestions!

David.

Well, I'm still here.

I saw this first time, but couldn't really suggest anything which covered
all the options you require.

http://www.tsohost.co.uk/ fits all those, I don't use them, people in other
groups have reported good things.

Dunno if they do that.

cPanel (used by TSOHost) does offer that.

# From 14.99/year

I'm not affiliated with them.

I recently started using tsohost (with a view to moving all my
Gradwell hosting over to them), so far I've been very happy with them
(I haven't transferred E-Mail over yet).

We have move some of our domains over to tsohost from Gradwell the
support is amassing compered with other IPS I have worked with in the
past, it leaves them in the dark ages compared with tsohost

Email is good you can use a catch all or filter address to pop3 boxes
outgoing mail is a lot faster than Gradwell

I do like Gradwell but if they don't sort out the problems this week
with file permissions left over form 24 Dec hac I will be moving the
rest

Barrie,

It sounds like you might need https://www.portfast.co.uk/services.shtml

They support IPv6 too, which should be on your list. :-)

If you have very specific requirements, you could look at VM hosting
instead from those guys or Bytemark or Goscomb for example.

Direct (off-group) contact details may get you more replies.
