I have received a mysterious email from Gradwell entitled "Welcome to
your new control panel". It begins: "We contacted you recently regarding
the launch of a new and improved voice control panel." Firstly
Gradwell's VOIP service is not among the services of theirs that I use
and so I presumably don't have a voice control panel. Secondly the email
gives my account number as #120xxx when my Gradwell account number is
actually 1001yyy. (I've redacted the last 3 digits of each number.)

I've emailed them about it, and await their reply with interest.

I've got a round tuit, but despite that deformity have had a look at the
link in my similar email. As you say, it is entirely on how to manage my
VOIP setup; that takes zero time at present and hopefully will continue
thusly.

I had a reply, which said:

"It would appear that the e-mail has gone out in error to all customers,
so I apologise for this. Could you possibly forward me the e-mail,
however, so I can take a look at this incorrect account number?"

So I did that, and had a further reply saying:

"It woud appear a second account was set up on that e-mail address in
error at some point. I've checked and can confirm that no packages were
ever applied, nor did we hold any financial details or take any payments
on the account.

"I have now deleted this to avoid future confusion."

So two separate errors were involved, which isn't very encouraging,
though when I emailed Gradwell about it it was handled very efficiently.

IIRC that's the same reason given for the last time a VOIP related email
was sent out to many (all?) of us with hosting and no VOIP accounts.

Lessons obviously were NOT learned after the last incident.

Or perhaps the lesson learnt is that there are very few adverse (for
them) consequences from perpetrating such incidents?
