Setting up a new domain...

I've purchased a new domain, the first for 18 months or so; it's not like it used to be... The actual process of purchasing seems to have been greatly simplified and speeded up, for which I am of course grateful. But what then?

I now want to get FTP access sorted, and actually use the domain for the purpose it was intended. There is no functionality left at all on my old Control Panel (where, officially, all my domains still reside, because I've not migrated to the Cloud platform).

My Cloud CP shows the list of hosted domains, but I can see no means of setting up FTP access for a new domain. This *used* to be done automagically on purchasing a domain - what ever happened to that? To make matters worse, what I see as my control panel bears no resemblance whatsoever to the CP shown in their oh-so-comprehensive online guides.

So, assuming there's anyone left here who *isn't* scrambling to leave Gradwell, can anyone who has done it recently point me towards how to (1) set up FTP access to a new domain, and (2) ensure that the domain is available when I FTP in to my WEBS folder?

Cheers,
Robin

Happily, I can report a resolution. It was (inevitably) down to an omission on my part, not having a Cloud-based subscription to add the domain to. Having done that, and batted the question back and forth to Support several times, all is now working as it should. I have, in the past criticised Support for their incredibly slow response times. This time around, they were on to it almost straight away. The Cloud system is *very* different from the old platform, obviously, and hence appears convoluted the first time through the maze. But, I have to say, I can't fault the response.

Cheers,
Robin

That's good. I've found them very helpful too over the last week or two,
as I've migrated from "legacy" services to their cloud equivalents.

I'm not sure whether Gradwell offer FTP as a stand-alone service any
more, but if you order web hosting then naturally FTP access will come
along with that.

Perhaps the initial rush of migrations has died down and they're out of fire-fighting mode now. Fingers crossed.

Also more proactive than before are the spammers; I only registered the domain just over 24 hours ago, I've come in to work this morning to find 16 separate emails, all referring to the domain, offering web design services, IOS apps and all manner of other junk.

<sighs>

cheers,
Robin
