The Mystery Of Sasha's New Track...

There is something which I must say which I think is very interesting.

After the bootlegging of Sasha's "Be As One", DeConstruction UK said it
would not be mailing out any promos of the new single to DJs. This went
as far as even having Sasha go to Pete Tong's radio 1 to play the DAT of
the track and armed security taking the DAT to and from magazines where
it was being reviewed.

However, I was flicking through an old copy of DJ magazine and I was
telling a friend how many tunes from the Hype chart (tunes played on
acetate, etc, by top DJs) never get released.

Then, in the issue with Grace on the cover (months old now), I noticed
that at about 30-ish in the Hype chart was Sasha "Arkham Asylum/Ohma".
Now, none of the names at the bottom were Sasha or even his top mates like
Digweed or Parks & Wilson so I think that someone is lying here. Either,

(a) Sasha told someone he was going to release this tune and this
somebody decided he would get ahead of the pack of say he's already
playing it

or

(b) There were promos of the tune around.

Really, DeConstruction and Sasha need to provide an explanation.
Personally, I think that DeCon are the ones who have "manipulated the
truth" for maximum publicity.

This is an old problem, DJ's charting stuff they don't get to ensure
they get on with the mailing list people...

Mixmag exposed this about two years ago, by reviewing a non existent
track by DIRECKT (anagram of TRICKED)...two weeks later a bunch of
DJ's were charting this...

How we all laughed when mixmag told the truth...

Matt

PS - Trainspotters out there may recall that a track was released
under that name...but after the event..!

I saw that Muzik had it in there charts before it was released too! A
possible explanation, is that some naugthy shops had in in before the
monday it was released, and wern't supposed to sell it, but generally,
they're not going general release copies of a track in any earlier
than the wednesday before release date...

of course, maybe somebody that works at the factory where it was
pressed could have skanked a few copies...

Alex.
