So how come my girlfriend was "manhandled" by the same female security guard
that she had been a couple of months ago.
I'm sorry but this is just no way to treat people that are paying £14 for
the privelige of entrance.
How many guys would put up with security feeling the lining of their
underwear ??????
When we arrived, about half eleven, there was a huge queue. This we discover
is caused by only one kiosk accepting cash entrance,,,the other kiosk only
dealt with pre-paid credit card bookings. Hey,,now that would really piss me
off,,,,,paid for tickets,,,and still in the same queue as cash paying
punters.
Once this had been negotiated,,,onto security check..............no queue
for the guys,,,,pockets emptied and a quick brush down. Credit due no
problems. However, there must have been a line of approx 30-40 girls,
awaiting their almost intimate examination.
This quite plainly is ridiculous,,,,although i enjoyed the sandmen session,
and the rest of the music in the blue room,,in future we will be investing
our £28 in going to clubs, which offer better value for money, and more
importantly treat you like adult human beings.
i'm not new to the london club scene, and girlfriends of mine have never had
to put up with anything like the treatment dished out at bagleys.......but
while the punters still flock,,it'll carry on,,,,at least it wont affect
myself or my partner anymore.
sorry,,,,but this really needed saying.

Surely we are entitled to go where we like without fear of being
assaulted or manhandled by "security". "Somewhere decent" as you put
it, was Bagleys on Saturday. With Sandmen and Ian Betts, Red Stripe sold
at the bar and a convenient location for an easy journey home, me and the
girlfriend fancied it for a night out. I wandered through security with
the gentlest of pat downs, then waited ten minutes while the girlfriend
was subjected to a half search/half grope.
I'll tell her it was her own fault. Thanks for your opinion, invaluable.
Andy
Yesh, right - isn't it amazing what arsenal girls can manage to stuff
into their knicker lining whilst queueing outside clubs: machette, Uzi
submachine gun, chainsaw, BFG9000 etc etc
I wholeheartedly agree with you, lets keep these heavy artillery-toting
Lara Croft wannabees out of the clubs ;-)

Well - firstly I'm surprised by this - I don't recognise anyone (excluding a
couple of non-security staff) at Freedom anymore...

The queue was long - I think the increase in attendance to club (possibly
bought on by the addition of our new room) had taken people by surprise,
recent fall off in attendance was partially reversed by one simple change to
the club - the reinstatement of our room and its new line up of DJ's

I have many friends who came to the club - some not clubbers, some regulars
who came on Saturday because we had opened the new room, and to give them my
support....and none complained of this search...I submit that not everything
is perfect at Bagleys, but we have had a lot of input into the changes and
some if not all are being adopted because of our (and punters feedback into
the club).

Your choice to not come is plainly yours - and thats what makes clubland
what it is - a place for choice, and polarisation of opinions that means we
have our many stranded culture - but I do object to the slagging of a club
that earns me a living - and keeps my career as a DJ where I want it to be -
it may not be perfect...but there were an awful lot of people listening to
my set, Simon Eve and Ian Betts on Saturday who didn't appear to traumatised
by their 'invasive' searches. I doubt there is a club in London where no-one
complains about being searched...I don't like it, but just treat it as a
necessary evil at some clubs.
> sorry,,,,but this really needed saying.

I appreciate your feedback, but I would've appreciated a handshake, and a
word in my ear on Saturday....maybe we could have checked out what was
happening together and even addressed the issue at source...but your bravery
didn't stretch that far....just to a nice broadcasty post on our PLURry
newsgroup to slag off where I work.
Maybe I should go back to lurking instead of advertising my big break in a
club and booking more underground DJ's in an attempt to work from the inside
at one of our more commercial clubs.

If you'd seen the medical x-rays that have been taken of foreign objects
stuck in the internal region, you wouldn't be so sure, mate.
(having once seen a x-ray of an American coke-cola bottle measuring 9"
long completely stuck in the vaginal tract.. or how about this: concrete
poured into the rectal tract! There's definitely very strange people
about..)

I used to go to Freedom at Bagley's regularly a couple of years ago,
and never had any problems with the security, despite the stories and
rumours of their viciousness, especially if they caught people dealing
/ carrying in any quantity of anything.
The music was always OK though.
I don't go there any more because I've discovered better places to go.
Like Pendragon last weekend. What a top night!

Bagleys was my first ever 'outing', but I stopped going after they searched
inside my bra!!!!!! and took the contents (well they did leave my boob :-)
The security were awful, they used to go into the loos and look over the
cubicles, confiscate stuff and resell it!!!! I would never go there again.

however, if you remember it was your "broadcasty" post that indicated that
security arrangements at the club had changed,,,,and in my view, i felt
misled, as my girlfriend is quite adamant that it was definitely the same
girl sticking her thumbs up under my girlfriends breasts.
the thought of trying to track you down and express these views personally
did cross my mind, but to be honest at that point of the night, we were more
concerned with enjoying ourselves, rather than dwelling on it at the time.
to suggest that "my bravery didnt stretch that far" is in my opinion,
insulting. i copied my posts to this group to you personally, enabling
firstly a personal right to reply, and secondly, to give you a first hand
account of what goes on whilst entering the club.
the other postings that have been placed by people that have also
experienced bagleys security, seem to back my view.......
i'd also like to say,,that we weren't "traumatised",,,its just that we feel
that this style of female search is over the top, and uncalled for. it just
doesn't happen at other clubs,, but if so,,i'd be interested to know where.
this was an opinion that we thought, you, and other clubbers should be aware
of....surely one of the main reasons for the use of this newsgroup is to
share club experiences....good and bad.
other than my value for money comment (i don't think anyone can deny that
£14 admission is expensive), my post wasn't slagging the club, once inside
we had a good time, but an honest account of what goes on outside.
as i said right at the start,,,i know you can only do so
much,,,congratulations on your big break, and i wish you every success,,,i
just think your room could be even bigger, and you would be even more
successful, if these comments were passed on to your employers, rather than
dismissed as a "slag off". i appreciate that it's dangerous to bite the hand
that feeds........but don't shoot the messenger eh ??!!

Ahh yes.. I did miss of the most important bit of my post..
It will take more than a few over-zealous door-staff to detract from a
nights enjoyment for me and my gf.... Some people let it wreck their
whole night, I tend to ignore it and get on with what I do best, giving
it plenty of LArGE.. I've had my nuts felt at Bagleys before and at
Camden, I'm not saying I enjoyed it (!) but I did enjoy seing the face of
security-bloke as he shoved his hand down my troosers expecting to find a
bag of pills and getting a bag of, well, something else.. :) Fuck 'em.
They are working on the door, probably not enjoying themselves, dealing
with the general public who can be quite hard work at times.
Particularly those who are drunk or over-munted and incapable of looking
after their own safety, let alone others. On the whole, I can ignore
doormen and pretend they aren't there..
The blue room rocked, plenty. I sweated and jumped around quite a lot,
the music being hard and bouncy, a nice smattering of trance throughout
to keep me happy. Much more so than the other two rooms which seemed to
lack the enthusiasm from punters and Dj's that I like for a good night.
The bunker bar had a few good funky oldish tunes and it was nice to get
out of the way a bit :) The main room also provided some excellent
tunes, cheesy in places but seemed to contain a lot of people shuffling
around rather than bouncing..
I'll certainly be back. Bagleys holds a lot of fond memories for me, Mud
Club being a regular haunt when I was a clubbing virgin.. They also sell
Red Stripe. Yesssss.

Exactly, a cynic would have deeper suspicions that any club with harsh
anti-munter security was looking to boost their own stock of wares to
flog inside. Such practices are known as "punting out" - and apparently
are quite common in London. One of the reasons why its a rarity for me

Security staff have absolutely no right to look inside your bra and if
it was done without your consent, you could sue for assault.
Trouble is, with these kind of wanky clubs, you either accept their
intrusive terms or don't get in.
That's why whenever I see a club with that kind of security around, I
don't go in.
Here's a bit off my website:
"Entering the club
Clubs have the right to search anyone entering their premises, and must
provide searchers of both sexes. They can refuse entry to anyone who
refuses a search and can only insist on searching outside clothes,
pockets or bags.
They must conduct the search in a decent manner and with respect to the
individual. They cannot insist on a more intimate search without your
permission. Legally, they can only conduct strip searches and searches
inside clothes with your permission in private with an independent
witness.
Only the police or customs and excise officials are empowered to search
you without agreement - if a door supervisor searches inside your
clothes or performs a strip search without your permission they may be
charged with assault. "
